OK, not exactly The Perfect Plank, but I'm working on it.

The plank is one of the best overall, brief exercises we can all do every single day. It’s all about your core.  And your focus.

So, the real question is: How long?  I recommend the following:

  • Getting Started = a 20-second plank (tough, but no biggie)
  • Feeling Good = 1-minute plank (yikes!  But, it’s doable. Trust me. Ha!)
  • Challenge Me = 2 minute, 15 second plank.  Seriously.  That’s what I’ve done every single day for the past two years.  You’ll probably top that. So, definitely let me know when you do and I’ll feature your photo on Ultra Fit Over 50!  For real.
  • Extreme (at least for me) = 3 minute planks.  That’s where I’m at now, and it’s as much a physical challenge as a mental one.  So, build your body and your focus.
